Craziness

Camp is crazy busy! Today was my 5th day on the job and it's been a sprint since day one. There is much to learn and much to do before the start of training and camp. On my first day, I was asked to be the speaker at a day camp in July. The second day, I had to facilitate a group of youth on the climbing tower. Oh my! It had been years since I had belayed anyone so it took some research to remember some of the steps. I had a blast facilitating the kids and some adults on that tower.

Saturday I moved into my new house. I'm not totally unpacked yet but I've made a lot of progress. It's starting to feel like a home. I'll be hosting a BBQ for the leadership team next week so that's my motivation to get unpacked. Tomorrow I'm off so I'll work spending most of the day working on the house.

The full-time staff is great. Everyone has been really friendly and welcoming. Last night we had a staff potluck with a Cowboys & Indians theme. Some people dressed up in really fun outfits. The kids expecially looked cute. We ate dinner and played some games. It was such a blessing to be able to interact with the staff outside of work. Because work has been so busy I haven't had a ton of time to interact socially with staff so I really appreciated the time we had last night.

So how am I doing? Well, on the whole I'm doing well. I really love it here. I live in a gorgeous place, the people are friendly and I really sense the hand of the Lord in this transition. I'm overwhelmed with the amount of work that needs to be done and yet I know that it will get done, one thing at a time. I try not to look at the mountain too often but just focus on one step at a time. I also really miss my friends in IL. I have some deep friendships that I know won't end just because I'm 600 miles away but they are changing and I struggle with that. I feel so alone at times so I try to keep my eyes on Christ and know that I'm never alone because He is with me.

Pray for me if you think about it. Pray that I will keep my eyes on Christ and nowhere else. Pray that I'll take things one step at a time to help keep stress levels low. And pray that I would be grounded in the Word - I need that time more than ever now!!!
