Feet of a deer

The prophet Habakkuk faced even greater challenges than our struggling economy, yet he concludes,

“The Sovereign LORD is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to go on the heights” (Hab. 3:19 ).

He turned to God with confidence and joy, knowing that God is sovereign. He uses the picture of a deer climbing on the rocky cliffs of his homeland to remind us that we can have stability even in the toughest places in life. No matter what is happening in our lives, at our jobs, or in our world, we can have confidence that God is ultimately in control. No matter how bad things get, God will still have the victory and those who trust in Jesus will join in the victory.

So let us live in God’s strength, bounding gracefully through the difficult places and offering stability through Christ to those around us.
