A new life has begun....

and I'm going to be an aunt. My little brother & sister-in-law, Ben and Terrah announced this morning that they are pregnant and due August 3rd. How exciting! This will be my parent's first grandchild and of course they are thrilled. It was cute the way that Ben & Terrah chose to announce it. They had taken a picture on the day they found out about the baby - in it they are holding up the positive pregnancy test and are giving funny faces to the camera. Over the top they wrote - "It's positive, you are grandparents" - and stuck it in a frame. They wrapped it up with grandma & grandpa t-shirts and presented the entire package to my parents. Very neat way to do it.

And how appropriate for this to be announced on Christmas, on the very day on which we are remembering the birth of another Child so long ago. That Child came so that all the world might have life and have it to the fullest. This new child which has only recently begun to develop is coming into the world for a purpose as well. What is that purpose? We don't know and we may never know. But I can begin now to pray for this child that it would grow up to walk with the Lord and fulfill whatever purpose God has for him/her while here on earth.

Auntie Holly....that has a nice ring to it.
